I don't know much...
But I know I am SICK about the plight of the people in New Orleans and the rest of the South. I feel so helpless and horrified. I am so outraged that we, as the Americanmother f 'ing superpower that we are, cannot help our own. Ummm.. I don't know about the politics of war, but it seems to me that maybe we would have more supplies, money, and persons to aid in this if we didn't have a stupid war in Iraq that we don't even know why we really are there or how we are getting out.
NPR reported this morning that a lot of federal money that was supposed to be allotted to support the levees in New Orleans was diverted to support another cause... the war in Iraq. I beg that the American people will see, after all this, that maybe our President has made some very bad decisions and that perhaps....the war was a major mistake... and that trusting him anymore is dangerous. Well, what else do we have right now? What's done is done for the time being, so we have to support him in hopes that he will do the right thing by all of our people down there.
I can't blame the Hurricane on him. And I don't know what I am talking about at all. Maybe the war, and it's costs are not related to the levees...and won't affect our rescue efforts. Maybe without the war the rescue would be just as messed up.
i am just so damn pissed and disgusted that decisions are so economically based. Where do morals and values fit in the economic analysis? Most of those left in the city were the poor. Of course they were. Blame them, right? So they come from generations of poor and uneducated, and the strides they have made may not be as much as other groups....they should have had SAVINGS and cars that could drive to safety, right? If you have ever been in a position where you did not have enough money for RENT of groceries, you should be able to imagine the fear of not having enough money for gas to leave, hotels, etc. A person just should not have to have savings to escape disaster. Sure, i can see why you would want to... but if you cannot... just stay and drown in water polluted by rotting bodies?
Feel free to "Educate" me if I am way off on all this. But please do not attempt to convince me that the war in Iraq was necessary after September 11.

omigod...i feel the exact same way...this is so heartbreaking and disgusting. i am overwehlmed with all kinds of emotions and i don't even know how/where to begin.
i want to pray to something that im not even sure i believe in anymore. if there is a god, look at how devastating the world is...
or look at nature. it reminds me how tiny we are and ultimately powerless and we really can't control our world and we are all going to die in the end...

And now you have to deal with BLOG SPAMMERS???
GO THE HELL AWAY!!!
I agree with you. I am sick about it. I dont know how to help. I dont know what to say. I have never been part of or near a natural disaster. I hate to say I am blessed to be an Oregonian. But I am. I will deal with the rain and occasional ice storms, continue to donate blood and hope that BUSH has a heart attack!
It is all his fault.

It's very sad- it's already an area with extreme poverty, and now this. Well, hopefully once the water levels go down, people will be able to rebuild.

Oh my gosh! Don't even get me started. I have been on my soap box all week. I could write a 5 page paper on this tragedy and the political debate surrounding it. Okay, maybe not, but at the least, a blog will be coming soon!
