Who Knew?
Having just spent three days in a tiny town outside of Calgary, Alberta, I am now a bonafide expert on all things Canadian. I figure there are some things you may not know.
First and foremost, the Gilbert Grape was based on a true-life character and he is alive and well working the IGA in Sundre. Now, he is not HOT, but the real life persons that characters are made of never are, the actors are, but they can't help it. But his name is Ed. He talks a bit slow, but he takes your groceries to the car in the slowest fashion and stands around when he's done, trying to converse with big city traveling girls. Anyway, he'll be there if you happen by. He recommends the frosted danish in the bakery. He could eat a whole box of them. Wait, maybe he's the real Forrest Gump. Anyway, he eats so much he can't believe it. He is always hungry. He guesses he just has a really fast metabolism. That Crazy Ed, he is one exciting young man. Bless his heart. My sister has that affect on random unattended men, they just babble and stall... just to check out her chest for a few more minutes.
Ok, well, other than that, I bet you didn't know that those creepy towns in tv movies, where the same guy or girl works at all the stations and they run around making it look populated, really exist. IT's true. The baker pumps your gas. The Bed and Breakfast lady runs the liquor store. Those Canadians are some working fools.
Cowboys still have a place in Canada. And it's big. Cowboy hats, big belt buckles, boots... in full effect. This weekend there were even "Pony ChuckWagon Races" where you race chuckwagons with ponies. Good ol' Cowboy fun. I took Second.
Canadians are way more polite that ugly rude Americans. They thank you for everything. They compliment everything. And they have a knack for stating the obvious. Lu-- you from Canada? Jokes, I just heard someone told you that once. I thought cowboys were all rednecks. Turns out they aren't. I guess some are just good old fashioned nice boys.
It's a great place. I don't have anything bad to report. A bunch of really nice folk up there. Maybe not the most exciting, but good. Happy. And it was damn near 90 degrees too.

Oh, and there was no MAC store in Sundre. I didn't even see make-up at all in the IGA.

I certainly make an effort to be as rude as possible when I travel abroad. And ugly.
