How on Earth?
How on Earth can people still be so nieve about homosexuality? I mean, why in the hell is it still such big news when someone is "outed"? People still think it's funny. What the hell?
Ok, so I admit, I recently got a surge of excitement when we discovered that one "closeted" gay woman and a previously-thought completely hetero were a thing. But that was more like a hot office romance gossip thing, as opposed to hot GAY office romance thing. It's always kind of fun to find people out when they are secretly dating. Sorry. in that case, the one who was closeted, still kind of is. She and I hang out A LOT and we never talk about it, except that we talk about her girlfriend a lot....not as the label "girlfriend", but it's there. That's kind of weird, but I chalk it up to it's her life, she can tell me what she wants.
But at my new job, there is a gay man that works in another area. No big whoop to me, I think he's boring and pretentious, so I could care less about him. But latetly the big to-do has been about forwarding a link to this website for gay something or other, and he is on there in a picture. GASP!
So annoying. I actually saw someone refer to him, and then "limp-wrist" their hand. Are you kidding me, I haven't seen that since middle schoool! And then another person says, "I don't have a problem with gays, just keep them out of my personal space". I made my "wow, you are an ignorant red-neck" combined with "who farted?" face and the conversation ended there. But I guess I was nieve that people had kinf of come around with this.
I just don't see why we give a shit as to what anyone else does. It has no affect on us, in the abstract sense. Homophobia just bugs me. Maybe it shouldn't, just like homosexuality shouldn't bug the homophobes, but it's my world! :)
